Alfred 'Tod' McKelvy
Executive Director
Alfred 'Tod' McKelvy, Jr. has been the Executive Director of Berding & Weil LLP since 1991. He is responsible for administering the day-to-day operation of the law practice and has overseen the installation of an innovative computer and communications system at Berding & Weil. The technology includes a wide area network as well as an intranet that links our San Francisco, Alamo, Sacramento and Scottsdale offices as well as our clients, experts and suppliers. Mr. McKelvy found and worked with numerous consultants to invent a custom networking system at Berding & Weil adaptable to all the firm's computers and to the sophisticated and sizeable package of software products upon which the firm's staff relies. This complex marriage of many disparate parts has led to articles in legal and technology industry publications.
Mr. McKelvy has also taken a lead role in client development along with the firm's participation in local and national trade groups. His active role with BOMA International (Building Owners and Managers) has led to a comprehensive endorsement to resolve a major nationwide class action case. Mr. McKelvy has gone before the National Advisory Counsel in Washington D.C. with such issues as the "Omega" sprinkler class action. Mr. McKelvy also serves in an advisory capacity to BOMA San Francisco on the committee for Electrical Deregulation. Mr. McKelvy was named to the BOMA California Board as one of three BOMA San Francisco representatives. The BOMA California Board addresses legislative and regulatory matters affecting commercial property throughout the state. Mr. McKelvy also represents the firm through the local Chamber of Commerce as well as the Downtown Association of San Francisco. He is a member of the Commonwealth Club.
Mr. McKelvy earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Puget Sound in Washington State and Masters in Business Administration from the College of Notre Dame. His is an ongoing education with business related course work taken at the University of California at Riverside and classes in computer science at Stanford University.
Mr. McKelvy has managed and developed properties in Northern California as well as served on two community Boards of Directors. He has authored several articles relating to current real estate issues covering such issues as Energy Deregulation, "Omega" fire sprinkler failures, Unreinforced Masonry Building (UMB) reports and Year 2000.
