Daniel Rottinghaus is a litigation partner and represents commercial and residential real estate clients in construction defect and complex litigation. A representative list of commercial clients includes The Irvine Company and Irvine Apartment Communities, Intuit, Olen Residential Realty Properties, ProLogis, John Hancock Corporate Realty, Friedkin Realty Group, Trinity Properties, The Lurie Company, and Shorenstein Realty L.P. He has through the years represented numerous homeowner associations including One Embarcadero South, The Radiance, The Sutterfield, and Baycrest Towers in San Francisco, The Essex on Lake Merritt and The Sierra at Jack London Square in Oakland, Summit at Serramonte and Palo Alto Central East on the San Francisco peninsula, and Iron Horse, Meadowcrest, Snowcrest, The Resort at Squaw Creek, Timber Ridge, Trailside and Northstar Village in the Northstar-Lake Tahoe area.
His practice includes representation of affordable housing apartment developers, including Mission Housing Development Corporation, EAH, Inc., and Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation. He has also been counsel for claimants in class action cases involving defective products including hardboard siding, Blangeres v. Stimson Lumber Company, King County Superior Court, State of Washington; fire sprinklers, Trinity Properties v. Central Sprinkler Company, United States District Court, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; The Sutterfield Owners Association v. Tyco International, San Francisco Superior Court; and roofing products, Weiner v. Shake Company of California, Contra Costa County Superior Court; Shah v. Recon Building Products, Contra Costa County Superior Court. He is currently representing a class of 167 owners in the Millennium Tower litigation for fraud in the sale of the units. Recently, he resolved a trilogy of large apartment cases for a single client collecting over $120 million, and, in total, he has collected for his clients more than one-half billion dollars.
